The confidence of rental property owners in the UK has reached its highest level in three years, new figures have revealed.
A study by the National Landlords Association (NLA) discovered optimism has soared to 2007 levels among its members, with 57 per cent believing their prospects for the next quarter to be good or very good.
Rising tenant demand and increased profitability has helped to bolster expectations, with 28 per cent of respondents forecasting an improvement in markets during the coming three months.
However, the body warned that the success of the sector remains "fragile" and policy manager Chris Norris cautioned that rumoured increases in capital gains tax could damage the market.
He noted landlords are considering making acquisitions in the near future, with more buy-to-let mortgage finance available, adding: "It is good to see we may well have turned a corner."
