Trust 'vital to charitable giving'

Whether or not people trust charities can play a major role in their donation decisions.
This is according to the findings of research by the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB), which indicated that it is a key determining factor in such choices as 42 per cent of respondents sited it as important.
Additionally, when having faith in a third sector organisation was taken into consideration, this figure increased to three-quarters (75 per cent) of all adults.
Commenting on the results, fundraising academic Adrian Sargeant of the Bristol Business School and Indiana University claimed that they showed "just how important it is for organisations to manage public trust".
The poll also discovered 62 per cent of donors would be more prepared to place their trust in a charity that was registered with the FRSB.
Charities seeking a UK insurance policy may also be interested to learn that the body unveiled a new campaign in December aimed at boosting public confidence in making donations.
