Alcohol warning issued to British skiers

Those planning skiing breaks this year are advised that they may not be fully insured if they hit the slopes after a drink.
Recent research from More Than has indicated that one in four people on a winter sports holiday has skied or snowboarded still drunk without knowing it.
Such people are placing their own safety and that of others at risk and the report warned that they are indulging in activities having knocked back drinks the night before.
These skiers could unwittingly be making the slopes more dangerous and breaking the terms of their travel insurance by participating in sports while still over the drink-drive limit.
"Drink driving is severely frowned upon and drink skiing should be too - it can be just as dangerous," Pete Markey of More Than stated.
Almost three-quarters (74 per cent) of the 1,000 respondents polled wrongly claimed that cool air helps to clear their heads after a heavy night's drinking and 31 per cent did not realise that cover could be affected.
Those seeking a UK insurance policy before going skiing are also advised that a survey released by Confused.com in November indicated that drunk skiers are posing a risk on the piste.
