A new memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).
According to a spokeswoman for the RSPCA, the pact is designed to "end any confusion for donors", enabling them to direct their money towards the right organisation.
Under the agreement, a strapline will be placed on all the body's advertisements stating that it does not provide help for animals in Scotland in order to "provide clarification", she explained, adding that the two animal charities will continue to cooperate with one another.
The RSPCA has claimed that the move is a significant step forward in terms of animal welfare in Britain.
Animal charities seeking a UK insurance policy may be interested to note that there are currently around eight million dogs and eight million cats in the country.
This makes them the nation's favourite companions, recent figures from the Pet Food Manufacturers' Association revealed.
