Firms seeking a UK insurance policy may be interested to learn that one expert has forecast that 2010 may well be "another tough year" for many people.

As the British economy starts to emerge from recession, George Derbyshire, chief executive of NFEA - the national enterprise network, has warned that he has "concerns" about opportunities for growth over the coming 12 months.

He remarked that conditions for 2010 are difficult to predict and noted: "Confidence needs to be maintained and needs to be translated into real economic performance."

According to Mr Derbyshire, investment is likely to be affected by "pre-election caution", as are other decisions, with "big cuts in public expenditure" required regardless of which way voting goes.

His comments follow a recent report by the Confederation of British Industry, which indicated that Britain will exit recession during the third quarter of the financial year but is likely to experience a fragile and slow recovery.
