Landlords 'feeling more confident about market'

British landlords are increasingly feeling confident about prospects for buy-to-let properties during 2010, one expert has suggested.
According to Property Hawk editor Chris Horne, the number of accidental landlords on the market has been cut by the economic downturn.
"With supply reducing, tenant demand still strong and interest rates low - I think landlords are feeling reasonably comfortable going into 2010," he explained.
However, landlords seeking a UK insurance policy may be interested to learn that Mr Horne suggested some professionals are becoming more worried about the risk of tenants defaulting on their rent as a result of the recession, potentially placing pressure on their finances.
His comments come in the wake of a report by Upad.co.uk showing 58 per cent of landlords have become more optimistic than they were in November, although 42 per cent stated they felt less so following a difficult year for the private rental industry.
