Campaign promotes safety to Polish construction workers

Polish construction workers are being targeted by a new campaign launched by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to promote safety in the industry, particularly in London.

It will highlight the importance of compliance within the sector by targeting migrant employees and reminding them that they have the same rights to safe working conditions as indigenous staff through special outreach representatives from the relevant communities.

On-site health and safety is an ongoing concern in the building industry and research has indicated that foreign workers are at especial risk from practices that could be dangerous.

"Reducing the risks faced by the most vulnerable enables all construction workers to work in safer conditions and we hope will minimise potentially dangerous incidents on site," HSE chief inspector of construction Philip White remarked.

Liability insurance customers in the construction industry may also be interested to find that the government is constructing a new post for a chief adviser on construction.
