Britain's care system needs "urgent action" to address a funding crisis in order to ensure that people receive the services they require, an expert has declared.
According to Counsel and Care spokeswoman Caroline Bernard, money must be one of the issues in the "current 'big care debate'" and those reliant on support at home "must no longer be penalised".
Insurance for business customers in the care homes sector may be interested to note that a recent government green paper deemed the current system unfair, with people paying different sums and receiving varying levels of state help across the country.
It called for radical reform to ensure a fair approach and insurance that would provide protection against high care costs as customers aged.
Ms Bernard claimed that the Shaping The Future of Care Together report demonstrates that there is a "yawning gap between government rhetoric and reality around the care of older people".
