IoM issues holiday guidance to travellers

21st August 2009

Travel insurance customers may be interested in new guidance issued by the Isle of Man (IoM) before they set off on a break.

The island's government recommends that holidaymakers prepare for a "trouble-free" trip by asking the right questions of package tour operators and ensuring that they have financial protection in place.

According to the island's Office of Fair Trading, it is important to hold on to all relevant paperwork in case anything goes wrong and keep all receipts for anything reasonable so that they can claim back expenses in the event of an incident.

Chairman of the body Bill Henderson stated: "Make sure you have the right travel insurance to cover eventualities, but most importantly of all make sure you have adequate health insurance - this is vitally important."

In related news, the Association of British Insurers recently warned that insurance companies are increasing their efforts to detect fraudulent claims.
