More than two out of three children (68 per cent) would be prepared to forgo a Christmas or birthday present in favour of a donation to charity, new figures have revealed.
The results of a poll of more than 650 children aged between ten and 16 by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) may interest charity insurance customers, as they suggest that young people are more inclined towards generosity than their parents, with just 56 per cent of adults regularly making donations.
According to the survey, 86 per cent of kids think that everyone should regularly give money to good causes and 95 per cent believe that charities "make the world a better place".
"Today's children are the future and their passionate desire to make the world a better place bodes well for our society," CAF chief executive John Low remarked.
The National Talent Bank was launched by the government this week and aims to act as an intermediary between businesses who are reducing working hours and charities who could benefit from skilled volunteers.
