People looking to embark on a new business venture are being advised that running a restaurant is a good opportunity.

Individuals can make a "huge success" in the catering industry, suggests Miles Quest, spokesperson for the British Hospitality Association.

He points out that a restaurant can be difficult to run, but is an area where new people can do well.

"It does offer huge opportunities," Mr Quest stated.

Anyone running an eaterie must ensure they have adequate restaurant insurance in place, as well as sufficient funds to run the business.

Mr Quest also adds that running a restaurant can be risky, meaning those opening up should have business insurance in place.

Despite the recession, a report by People 1st predicts that the hospitality industry will continue to grow, with a further 208,000 jobs to be created by 2017.

Taking into account staff turnover, some 1,063,000 positions will be available in the ten years from 2007 to 2017.
