Care providers urged to back fees campaign
Domiciliary care insurance
8th May 2009
Independent providers of domiciliary care are being called upon to back a campaign to increase council fees.
The request comes following the establishment of the Fairer Fee Forum (FFF) by Ashton Brooke, a firm of solicitors specialising in the sector, reports Communitycare.co.uk.
As a result of claims that local authority payments fall short of the cost of providing adult care services, the FFF is aiming to put pressure on them to increase fees.
Kashif Majeed, principal solicitor at the company, said that providers need to make an effort and throw their support behind the campaign.
"If we don't stand side by side it's not going to work. Everyone wants more money but they are not prepared to do the hard work," he commented.
The FFF claims that operational care costs have increased as a result of factors such as additional holiday entitlement and rises in the minimum wage and higher standards required by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
