A new at-work road safety campaign is to be launched with the full support of the government.
The Department for Transport has awarded RoadSafe, a forum backed by the automotive industry, a three-year contract to devise and promote safety on UK roads among UK businesses.
Road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick said he looked forward to seeing the campaign reach more business leaders over the next three years.
"A growing number of organisations are realising that managing these risks is good for their staff and for their business," he commented.
Meanwhile, director of the Driving for Better Business campaign Caroline Scurr said that reducing crashes involving at-work drivers saves the haulage industry millions of pounds and improves business efficiency.
Next month, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents will hold a major conference focussing on the safe use of work vehicles on public roads and occupational sites.
