The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) is adopting a zero tolerance approach to companies that falsely claim to be members of the organisation, it has been revealed.

Robin James, managing director of the NASC, said main contractors are looking for high standards from NASC members as reassurance.

"We will deal swiftly and directly with any company that threatens our brand," he commented, adding: "The only place you can check and be sure that the company is a genuine member of the NASC is on our website and in our Yearbook."

Mr James encouraged main contractors to ensure that scaffolding firms had the right credentials and to contact the NASC in the event of any uncertainty.

The NASC was founded in 1945 and its membership incorporates a significant share of the total industry workload in the UK, according to the organisation's official website.
