Neighbourhood crime 'on the rise'

People without an adequate insurance policy for expensive items in their homes may want to think again following news that one in three people claim to have seen an increase in neighbourhood crime.

According to a new report by Opinium Research for LV=, only eight per cent said they had seen a decrease in neighbourhood crime over the last five years.

Nearly a quarter (22 per cent) of those questioned thought the state of crime prevention in their localities was poor.

Home insurance expert John O'Roarke said the report paints a "bleak picture" of how many people view the areas they live in.

"It is only natural for people to feel they should be able to rely on the police and crime prevention measures to make them feel secure, but most people see standards largely as 'average', with a further quarter saying they actually regard it as poor," he commented.ADNFCR-1854-ID-18896745-ADNFCR
