RHA supports seat belt move

The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has called for tougher seat belt laws after a lorry driver died in an accident.
Peter Williams, 25, lost his life after his truck plunged off a bridge and on to a railway track in County Durham.
Following the accident, it emerged that Mr Williams was not wearing a seat belt while he was driving the vehicle, reports hgvireland.com.
Under UK law, seat belts are not compulsory in vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes and registered before 2001.
A spokesman for the Freight Transport Association called for seat belts to be fitted in all lorry and tanker cabs to avoid unnecessary deaths and insurance claims.
Steve, the RHA's head of technical services, commented: "We cannot enforce the fitting of seat belts and we have to be careful what we say, but we certainly support and see the need for it."
The RHA campaigns on behalf of the UK haulage industry and offers advice and information to drivers.
