Trees on a golf course in Bournemouth are to be felled after concerns were raised about golf balls hitting cars on a busy road nearby.
Bournemouth council unanimously gave the green light to the move after arboricultural officer Jerry Kelsey highlighted potential safety concerns caused by balls driven from the eighth tee of the Queen's Park golf course.
"The council's insurers have carried out a risk assessment and have identified a risk of serious traffic accident occurring on the Wessex Way," commented Mr Kelsey.
He added that two sections of fencing needed to be relocated within a belt of trees and said the failure to cut down the trees could have implication for the council's insurance cover.
According to the Bournemouth Echo, a couple were forced to stop their car recently after a golf ball struck their windscreen while they drove past the golf course.
Golf course owners can protect themselves by ensuring they have a proper insurance policy in place.
