A Cheshire council's disaster preparation plans are serving as a stark reminder to companies without a business interruption insurance policy to seek adequate cover.

Frodsham town council is currently putting together a disaster recovery plan to deal with potential incidences including arson and even a terrorist attack.

The town's mayor Pammi Taylor commented: "As far as I know not many town councils have a plan like this, which really came out of various discussions about data security."

In cases of fire and arson, the plan recommends that landlords install fire extinguishers and smoke alarms that alert the fire service within their buildings, reports the Chester Chronicle.

As Frodsham is on the flight path to and from Liverpool, the report claims that an accident involving an aircraft "although improbable, is possible".

Business located in areas where flooding frequently occurs should also consider acquiring insurance in case the worst happens.

Recent flooding on Merseyside was the worst in 30 years, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.
