Motorists over the age of 50 have different insurance needs to younger drivers and this should be considered when looking for the right insurance policy, it has been claimed.
According to easier.com, many insurance providers offer specialised schemes aimed at customers such as yacht owners or classic cars drivers. There are also considerable savings to be made by insuring with a specialist provider.
"Insurance companies individualise their core offerings by varying the features of their policies and the prices they charge for them," said one specialist insurer.
It is important that people carefully consider the level of cover they require, taking into consideration factors such as mileage, the age of the vehicle and the provision of any garaging or secure storage facilities.
According to Direct Line, there are 1.5 million drivers in the UK without insurance.
Research by Compare The Market found that uninsured drivers cost UK motorists more than £500 million a year.
