Health and safety investigators have begun looking into the cause of an accident in which a crane collapsed.
An unnamed driver employed by Able UK's Teesside Environmental Reclamation and Recycling Centre (TERRC) facility narrowly escaped serious injury in the incident.
A Health and Safety Executive spokesman said: "The Health and Safety Executive are aware of the incident and further inquiries are being made."
The firm hit the headlines in 2003 when it secured an £11 million contract to dismantle 13 US naval vessels. It also recently announced plans to scrap the French aircraft carrier Clemenceau, reports the Hartlepool Mail.
Such accidents could have implications for an employer's liability insurance.
Leach Structural Steelwork Ltd near Preston recently pleaded guilty to breaching UK health and safety laws after one of its cranes collapsed.
The Lancashire Evening Post reports that the company was fined £10,000 and ordered to pay court costs of £9,143.
